After reading about the double cleansing method, I eventually got my hands on The Face Shop Rice Water Bright Rich Facial Cleansing Oil. I am also using Garnier Micellar Oil-Infused Cleansing Water, which also does a good job. Yet, the experience of using a cleansing oil is simultaneously exciting because you don’t need to use a facial cotton pad to remove stubborn makeup. So, yes… I am finally here to tell you about The Face Shop Rice Water Bright Rich Facial Cleansing Oil.

Packaging

The Face Shop Rice Water Bright Rich Facial Cleansing Oil comes in a pump bottle packaged in plastic wrap. I like that you can lock the pump to prevent accidental spillage.

The oil is thin, so it can get messy because the pump dispenses too much for a single use.

Scent

This cleansing oil contains a sweet fragrance that, in my opinion, is too strong.

Texture

It is thin, runny oil.

My Personal Experience with The Face Shop Rice Water Bright Rich Facial Cleansing Oil

I was not paid for this review, nor did I receive it as a gift. I’ve been using it for nearly one month.

I bought The Face Shop Rice Water Bright Foam Cleanser and The Face Shop Rice Water Bright Rich Facial Cleansing Oil for my double-cleansing skincare routine. I have oily and acne-prone skin, and to be honest, I did not break out or anything while using the cleansing oil.

It improved my skin texture since the product does a fantastic job of taking off the makeup in seconds. It leaves no traces of dirt, sebum, sunscreen and even waterproof makeup or micro shimmer. My skin feels soft and moisturized.

The Face Shop Rice Water Bright Rich Facial Cleansing Oil is very affordable. Also, a little goes a long way, so it will easily last up to 3-4 months, depending on how often you wear makeup.

How to use The Face Shop Rice Water Bright Rich Facial Cleansing Oil?

I usually use it as a part of my evening skincare routine.

  1. I take a pump or two and massage it over my dry face for a minute, dissolving all my makeup;
  2. Next, I take some water to emulsify and work it on my face in a circular motion. In this step, the oil starts to feel a little milky;
  3. I then wash my face with lukewarm water;
  4. I follow with The Face Shop Rice Water Bright Foam Cleanser;
  5. Follow with toner, essence, serum, ampoule, moisturizer, SPF…

This two-step cleansing is known as the double-cleansing method. If you wonder if oil cleansing suits acne-prone skin, yes. However, you should opt for oil cleansers that won’t clog pores.

If you have dry skin, then you should skip the foam cleanser. It can dry out your skin.

Secondly, you don’t need to double cleanse daily if you stay home. A micellar water or a foaming face wash will do the job.

Pros

  • dissolves makeup
  • leaves no residue

Cons

  • fragrance
  • stings my eyes

Conclusion

It is an excellent product for those who wear heavy makeup, suitable for all skin types. But, the heavy fragrance can be off-putting for a lot of people. I will not repurchase The Face Shop Rice Water Bright Rich Facial Cleansing Oil because it stings my eyes.

Rating 3.5/5

The Face Shop Rice Water Bright Rich Facial Cleansing Oil vs. Rice Water Bright Light Cleansing Oil

I must admit I bought the Rich Cleansing Oil because of a sale, although the Light Cleansing Oil* was more suited for my skin type, which is oily. The ingredients lists are pretty similar. They both contain Caprylic Triglyceride, Isopropyl Myristate, Sorbeth-30 Tetraoleate, Polyglyceryl-10 Diisostearate, Glycerin, Rice Bran Oil,  Rice Extract, Saponaria Officinalis Leaf Extract, and Water.

The Rich Cleansing Oil has Kukui Nut Oil and Canola Oil as opposed to the Light Cleansing Oil.

Lastly, I was not paid for this review or received it as a gift.

As always, you do you; be kind to your skin and yourself! Remember that every person’s skin and skin type is different, so what might work for me might not work for you, and vice versa. So, before adding a new product to your skincare routine, it pays to do a little research first.

Before adding The Face Shop Rice Water Bright Rich Facial Cleansing Oil to your skincare regimen, ensure you are not allergic to it or its ingredients. You should also consult your doctor if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, or have any medical conditions or medications that may interact with The Face Shop Rice Water Bright Rich Facial Cleansing Oil. Always do a patch test before applying The Face Shop Rice Water Bright Rich Facial Cleansing Oil on your skin to avoid adverse reactions.

I am not a dermatologist or licensed aesthetician, but I have sufficient experience and knowledge I gained by testing multiple products and self-exploration. Unsure? Best to consult your dermatologist.

Happy shopping, and don’t forget the sunscreen! Here’s to great skin in 2024!
